TRIPLEX CINEMA & GB PUBLIC THEATER: “FREUD’S LAST SESSION”

The Triplex Cinema and Great Barrington Public Theater will present a special screening of the recent film, Freud’s Last Session, starring Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode. The film is based on the Mark St. Germain play that originally premiered in 2009 at the Barrington Stage Company. The event includes a screening of the film, a talkback with Mark St. Germain with a food and drink reception to follow. Food prepared by Guido’s, wine donated by Domaney’s and desserts by Great Barrington Bagel. $100.

ECOLOGY SUCCESS STORY: THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT

Enjoy this uplifting lecture by Cary Institute senior research fellow Peter Groffman, who will share inspiring examples of ecological success stories, where science has led to effective solutions and a cleaner environment for all. Discover how ecosystem science has led to policy and management action to curb acid rain, reduce nutrient pollution to freshwaters and conserved endangered species. Goffman will explore the factors contributing to these success stories, why teamwork is essential and what we can learn from the past to address today’s challenges. Free.

BABY ANIMALS FESTIVAL: CUTE SEASON

The Baby Animals Festival is a favorite annual sign of spring for Berkshire residents. Visitors are invited to experience the ritual of renewal by welcoming this year’s baby animals and the newest arrivals—lambs, piglets, calves, chicks, and kids (kid goats, that is). You can also enjoy a wide variety of events and activities through the village including the popular Behind the Scenes tour with hands-on experiences with the animals and a wagon hayride offered daily. Admission: $8 - $20, Free for 12 & under; Tour: $40.

MUSIC ON MAIN: SPRING AWAKENING

Music on Main is presenting Spring Awakening —an afternoon of poetry and song with a program of operatic arias and duets followed by a reception. Featured guests are tenor Bernard Holcomb, making his debut with the Metropolitan Opera this season and Emily Kate Gentile, a versatile soprano with many operatic and music theater credits. Accompanying them will be Hui-Mei Lin, praised by the New York Times as an “excellent pianist.” Suggested donation $25.

FUSED GLASS 101: GLASSWORKS WORKSHOP

Learn the basics of working with glass to create a beautiful functional or decorative piece. Start with a clear glass shape and learn how to cut and arrange different types of glass pieces into a design. Designs are then fired in the kiln.
