Garden Conservancy Open Days

Our region offers an abundance of expectational gardens, maintained by dedicated and devoted gardeners. And while these personal gardens usually remain under the private eye of the owner, The Garden Conservancy's Open Days grants the public access.

300 gardens on display over 19 states offer spectacular sights such as acres of manicured lawns, a huge spectrum of tropical plants, and perennials as far as the eye can see, delightful shrubbery, ponds and stunning greenhouses.

Litchfield County's open day on June 21 includes gardens in West Cornwall, Kent, and Washington. A highlight of the day will surely be a tour of the beautiful 15-acre grounds of noted interior designer and author Bunny Williams.

Columbia County will have an open days on June 28, in Kinderhook, Hudson and Tagkanic, to name a few.

This unique and once-in-a-lifetime glimpse at extravagant gardens is part of The Garden Conservancy mission to provide horticultural and financial expertise in their partnerships with gardens, as well as bring awareness and support to these fragile environments to assure their longterm preservation.

And you really don't have to be a garden enthusiast to enjoy the day, the detailed and visually stunning bucolic sights are almost like a day at the museum- with a five-dollar entry fee.
