THE CONSTITUTION TODAY: A LOOK AT THE LEGAL SYSTEM

Salisbury Forum favorite Akhil Reed Amar is returning to speak on the topic of his most recent publication, The Constitution Today: Timeless Lessons for the Issues of Our Era. Dr. Amar, the Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University, is examining the constitutional significance of the most critical and often divisive modern cases and controversies. In addition to addressing gun control, gay rights, the electoral college, filibuster reform and impeachment, Dr. Amar will answer questions about America’s constitutional system—past, present and future. HAUNTED MILL AND MONSTER’S BALL: AN ARTFUL HALLOWEEN
October 28th, Saturday 3PM

Equal parts spooky, enchanting, creepy and fanciful. The artists of Maxon Mills have transformed the space into a Haunted House suitable for kids during the daylight and the main show for adults as the sun goes down. Family-friendly festivities include hayride, a costume contest, face painting and more carnival activities, after which the adults get to venture up the winding staircase of Maxon Mills for seven floors of thrills and chills. At 9PM the party moves to the Lantern for the Monster’s Ball. Enjoy live music, DJ sets, beverages, crazy costumes and more. Haunted Mill is Free, Monster’s Ball tickets $15.

LA PAULÉE: HARVEST FESTIVAL A LA BURGUNDY
October 28th, Saturday 5:30PM

La Paulée—a harvest festival native to Burgundy in France—will be transplanted to the Hudson Valley for one night only by famed sommelier Daniel Johannes. The event will take place at one of Hudson Valley Magazine’s Best New Restaurants of 2017, The Amsterdam, and the dinner features Chef Sara Lukasiewicz’ take on our local harvest bounty in collaboration with Chef Daniel Boulud’s restaurants Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud. Accompanying the meal is an impressive list of Burgundy wines and guests are encouraged to bring their own special bottles of Burgundy to share with the room throughout the evening.
