Holiday Farmers Markets

Holidays and food—it’s hard to think of one without the other. And in a region where many are fully engaged in the farm-to-table concept, those the foods served are often locally sourced and healthy.

It will be easy for area residents to find the freshest food products this season through six Holiday Farmers Markets planned for Saturdays, November 18th, December 16th, January 13th, and February 17th at Monument Valley Middle School in Great Barrington and on Sundays, November 19th and December 17th at Williams College Towne Field House.

All markets, sponsored by Berkshire Grown, will be held from 10AM to 2PM. and will include apples, potatoes, carrots, beets, winter squash, onions, garlic, mushrooms and a variety of greens. In addition, there will be fresh eggs, chicken, lamb, grass fed pork and beef, more than a dozen kinds of locally produced cheeses, jams, pickles, kimchi, sauerkraut, honey, and baked goods.

Admission is free and SNAP/EBT and HIP accepted at all markets. The Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) matches SNAP purchases of fruits and vegetables at farmers markets, farm stands, mobile markets, and CSAs—providing SNAP customers with extra dollars to spend every month.

The markets will feature fun activities for kids, food for lunch and music. Last year, more than 5,000 people attended the six Holiday Farmers Markets, generating more than $181,000 in sales to the vendors.
