Savor the Super Bowl

Most people watch the Super Bowl sitting around the television in their own living room but others like a bigger venue. For those who like to cheer on their favorite surrounded by other sports enthusiasts this weekend offers a couple of possibilities.

In Lakeville, the Black Rabbit at 2 Ethan Allen Street will continue a seven-year tradition, shutting down its usual meal service at 4PM, following lunch, and setting up for a Super Bowl Party at 6PM.

“It’s always a lot of fun,” said restaurant owner Kendra Chapman. “About 6:15PM we put out a complementary buffet that we replenish at half-time. We have Super Bowl t-shirts, hats and giveaways and a cash bar.”

Chapman said the event draws 60 to 75 patrons annually to watch the game on the restaurant’s two large screens. “All the tables have a good view of the screens. Most people are really into the game even when they are in party mode, which is nice,” she said.

No reservations are needed, but for more information, call 860-596-4227.

Farther north, at the Red Lion Inn, 30 Main Street in Stockbridge MA, the Super Bowl will be celebrated in the Lion’s Den. Patrons are invited to stop by from 8-11PM for popcorn, traditional buffalo wings, pigs in a blanket and Philly Cheesesteak flatbread in addition to the regular menu. All can be enjoyed while watching the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles facing off on the Den’s big screen TV.

Not particularly interested in football, but still looking for something to do this weekend? The IS183 Art School of the Berkshires will host a Super Bowl of Chili benefit for the art school’s ceramic studio.

The event will be held at Citizens' Hall, 13 Willard Road in Stockbridge, February 3rd, 3-6PM.
