Toscano and Piemonte Wine Dinner

at the Red Lion

Pairing food with just the right wine gives a meal that je ne sais quoi. But how to know what wine to pair with your meal?

A good start would be to attend the Best of Toscano and Piemonte Wine Dinner planned for March 30 from 6:15 to 8:30PM at the Red Lion Inn. There will be a welcome reception tasting with hors d’oeuvres as well as a sit-down dinner with wines and commentary by Austin Slitt, New England regional manager of Leonardo LoCascio Selections.

The evening will showcase the best and brightest of Italian spring wines from Leonardo LoCascio Selections. There will be hors d’oeuvres and a wine tasting from 6:15 until 7PM, when a sit-down dinner will follow.

The event will feature small estate fine wines from the Piedmont and Tuscany. Slitt will lead the group through the tasting and dinner as patrons savor and compare the differences between the two growing regions.

The culinary team at the Red Lion Inn has crafted a menu to pair perfectly with the wines.

Hors d’oeuvres of roasted mushroom crostini with pecorino, short rib arancini, and smoked tomato coulis will be passed with six wine tasting selections.

The dinner menu includes house-made cavatelli with wild boar ragu or a vegetarian version with mixed wild mushrooms; or a seared Moulard duck breast with Anson Mills Farotto and duck sugo. There is also a vegetarian option for this selection.

Dessert will be dark chocolate espresso panna cotta.

All the dishes will be specially paired with appropriate wines.

The inn is located at 30 Main Street, Stockbridge.

The cost of the dinner is $85. To make reservations call the Red Lion Inn at 413-298-5545. For more information visit the link below.
