Flowers at the Barns

Kent, once an agriculture community, has reimagined itself as a destination for visitors from throughout the tristate region. Today, Kent Barns, a reminder of that farming legacy, has moved far beyond cows and tobacco leaves, to become a center of art, fashion and flowers.

On the second Saturday of each month throughout the summer and fall, all shops, galleries and eateries are coordinating around a flower-based theme in their art installations, specialty food creations, and inventory offerings.

June 12th brings the second of the 2021 celebrations with live music under the big maple tree between noon and 3PM; a flower market, 10AM-1PM at RT Facts; a House of Books Story Hour, 10-11AM; and art galleries and shops open with new exhibits and inventory from 10AM-5:30PM.

The art galleries will feature nature-themed exhibits, such as The Flowers at Craven Contemporary, Matthias Meyer: Ponds and Blossoms at Carol Corey Fine Art; Ober Gallery’s newest exhibit, Ober! Beerman! Lipke, a multi-artist show that opens with a reception from 3-5PM; continuation of a celebration of spring with artwork based on botany and pollinators at Kenise Barnes Fine Art, and an Ichiche Pop Up Shop, 10 AM-4PM, featuring Denise Alexandra Spencer’s line of elegant, warm-weather wear.

The Flower Market showcases local flower growers as well as local artisans and small businesses focused on flowers and gardens. There will be planter demonstrations from 11AM until noon.
