SWING DANCE WITH THE LUCKY 5

Enjoy a swing dance lesson with Jason Fenton before hitting the dance floor as The Lucky 5, a hard-swinging jazz band, goes live. The band performs both original compositions and modern interpretations of jazz standards in their unique, foot-stomping style. You’re invited to wear red, white and black in honor of Valentine’s Day but there will be no lonely hearts here. Come with partners, friends, family or head out solo—a great way to meet new people. $10 - 20.

HUDSON JAZZ FESTIVAL: BEYOND STANDARDS

If you missed last year’s inaugural event, make sure not to miss this year’s 2nd Annual Hudson Jazz Festival, featuring events, performances and famous names. The festival kicks off with an evening of sizzling Latin Jazz by seven-time Grammy-Award nominated drummer/percussionist Bobby Sanabria and his Quartet Aché. The main event is called Fearless Masters—powerhouse players will take the stage in an evening made for jazz lovers. $90 Weekend Pass, prices vary for individual concerts.

CONCERTO DELLE DONNE: LATE RENAISSANCE LADIES
February 16th, Saturday, 6PM
February 17th, Sunday, 4PM

In the late 16th century in Ferrara, Italy, an ensemble of professional female singers—probably the first one of their gender—became renowned for their technical and artistic virtuosity. This ensemble, the ‘Concerto delle Donne’ performed formal concerts for members of the inner circle of the Ferrara court and important visitors and revolutionized the role of women in professional music. Sopranos Catherine Hancock, Rebecca Palmer and Jennifer Tyo, accompanied and directed by Christine Gevert on the organ and harpsichord, will perform works by the Ferrara court composer as well as early Italian Baroque arias and duets by Monteverdi, Barbara Strozzi and others. Saturday concert is located in Great Barrington and Sunday concert will be held in Lakeville. $10 - 60

In one of Audrey Hepburn’s iconic performances, her character, Eliza Doolittle, becomes a project of the pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison). As he attempts to transform this Cockney working-class girl into a cultured member of high society, they clash at first before forming an unlikely bond.
