SOTHEBY’S IN LITCHFIELD: SOCIETY APPRAISAL DAY

The Litchfield History Museum is hosting a Society Appraisal Day where Sotheby’s experts will be on hand to consult on items in your collection and the process of consigning items in a Sotheby’s auction. For even more inside scoop, Senior Vice President at Sotheby’s New York and Head of Department for Americana, Erik Gronning, is giving a presentation on Friday evening. Mr. Gronning is a noted furniture scholar who has written extensively on late-17th and early-18th century American furniture. The presentation followed by a reception and silent auction where drinks and light refreshments will be served. Appraisal Day is free with suggested $20 donation, Lecture and Reception $75 - 250.

In Jeff Baron’s beloved and award-winning play, Visiting Mr. Green, a chance encounter brought two unlikely lives together. Three years later, the relationship between the two, 90-year-old Mr. Green, and young executive, Ross, is going strong. In this touching continuation, two additional characters bring thorny conflict to this heartwarming and funny story. There will be a talkback with playwright and director, Jeff Baron, immediately following the reading. $10 suggested donation.

DOG DANCE: MAN’S BEST DANCE PARTNER
July 13th, Saturday, 11AM

Back by popular demand, this participatory event for beloved canines and their dance-loving companions will be led by professionals from Jacob’s Pillow’s Curriculum in Motion program. Participants and their leashed canines will be led through a series of simple and fun movements, designed to highlight the beauty of our pets and the unique relationship we share with our dogs. This family-friendly event includes a group dance, giveaways, raffle featuring local pet vendors, and more! Free with suggested $10 - 20 donations to the Berkshire Humane Society.

(ALMOST) FULL MOON PADDLE
July 14th, Sunday 5 - 8:30PM

Enjoy a 2-3 mile canoe trip while taking in the sights and sounds of the evening on the Housatonic River. Watch the moon rise as you paddle a flat stretch of the river through the Darey Wildlife Management Area. Participants should be 10 and up. Canoes and equipment will be provided but feel free to bring your own boat and/or gear! Space is limited and participants must register in advance. Free.
