TANGLEWOOD LEARNING INSTITUTE: A TASTE OF RUSSIA
February 21st, Friday, 6PM Reception, 7:30PM Concert

Pianist Ignat Solzhenitsyn presents an intimate evening of music, featured and inspired by his father’s writings in honor of the centenary of his birth. The program includes piano works by Beethoven and Shostakovich, personal reflections and a selection of Solzhenitsyn’s compelling poems, some of which will be heard in English for the first time. Beforehand try you hand (or rather feet) at Eastern European and Russian folk dance led by Pavel Gurevich, former principal dancer of the Boston Ballet and current faculty member at the Boston Ballet school. In addition, there will be a 6PM reception with a Russian theme including a selection of cold and hot hors d’oeuvres including the staples salmon gravlax and borscht. All are welcome. $20 Concert-only, $80 Concert and reception.

BERKSHIRE BOTANICAL GARDEN WINTER LECTURE: WILD GARDENING
February 22nd, Saturday, 2PM

Tom Coward is a horticulturalist and master of garden restoration who honed his craft and style restoring the historic garden at Gravety Manor in Sussex. Designed by legendary writer and gardener William Robinson, it is situated in the Ashdown Forest—the basis of A.A. Milne’s Winnie The Pooh books. Building on his experience restoring these wild gardens and drawing upon the inspiration of North American meadows, the celebrated Coward will describe his process and how to translate it into smaller-scale projects. $35 - 45.

JAZZ AT THE INTERLAKEN: CHORDTET

Enjoy this evening of rich jazz, cocktails and delicious tapas featuring the veteran world-class performers who make up New Chordtet. Members of the group have played everywhere from Lincoln Center to Harlem’s historic Lenox Lounge to the White House to festival performances like the Grande Parade du Jazz in Nice. BOLSHOI BALLET BROADCAST: SWAN LAKE
February 23rd, Sunday, 1PM

Prince Siegfried is summoned by his parents to choose a bride. However he encounters a mysterious and magnetic swan-woman, Odette. His vow of eternal love to her will have irreversible consequences. Tchaikovsky’s essential masterpiece returns for a live broadcast of the most-beloved ballet in the classical canon. Technically challenging and filled with vibrant emotion, with a stunning and world-famous corps de ballet in perfect unison, is the legendary love story between Prince Siegfried and the dual personalities Odette/Odile. After the performance enjoy a talk by the experts from Jacob’s Pillow. $10 - 17.
