NIGHTWOOD: AN OUTDOOR SOUND AND LIGHT EXPERIENCE
November 19th - January 3rd, Thursdays - Sundays, 5 - 8PM

The Mount has teamed up with Design by Chris Bocchiaro to create NightWood—an annual sound and light experience that transforms the property into a fantastical winter landscape for the holidays. Inspired by the natural beauty and architecture of The Mount, visitors will be immersed in a series of vignettes designed to evoke elements of fantasy, mystery and whimsy. The trail is approximately 3/4 of a mile through the woods and gardens. $20 Adults, $10 Kids 6 - 18, Free for children 5 and under.

ADAM GOPNIK: THE END OF THE WORLD OR THE LAST FAINT HOPE?

Veteran New Yorker essayist, Adam Gopnik, will be giving a talk about liberal democracy, its strategy for survival and its risks of extinction. During more than thirty years writing for The New Yorker he has published hundreds of essays from personal memoirs to reviews and profiles to reports from abroad about Paris and food. Gopnik, known for his wit and erudition, offers incisive and astute commentary on American politics and the current state of divisiveness. Free.

THE WOMAN WHO STOLE VERMEER: ART HEIST

Anthony Amore, Director of Security and Chief Investigator at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, will make a visual presentation on his new book titled The Woman Who Stole Vermeer: The True Story of Rose Dugdale and the Russborough House Art House. As part of the Morning Diversions series from Ventfort Hall, Amore will talk about his experience leading the efforts to recover thirteen works of art stolen from the museum in 1990. In the world of crime Dugdale stands out among the predominately male art thieves. She abandoned her life as an Oxford-trained PhD and heiress to join the cause of Irish Republicanism and ultimately pulled off the biggest art theft of her time. $20.

BERKSHIRE GROWN HOLIDAY AND WINTER MARKET: HOME GROWN
November 21st, Saturday, 10AM - 2PM
IN PERSON

The Berkshire Grown Holiday and Winter Farmers Market features the abundance of local grown and produced foods found in the Berkshires. The offerings of local producers range from winter squash, greens and root vegetables, to apples, meats, cheeses, honey and maple syrup, along with baked goods, jams, ferments, cider and more. While food and drinks cannot be consumed in the market area, Off the Shelf and North Plain Farm are cooking up some delicious egg sandwiches and grilled sausages straight from the farm to be enjoyed at home. The number of visitors allowed in at one time is limited so leave yourself some extra time. Free.

CLARION CONCERTS: A CONVERSATION WITH BLACK LEADERS IN CLASSICAL MUSIC
