MOTHER’S DAY: NEW PLAY READING
STREAMING: April 9th - 11th, Friday - Sunday
TALKBACK: April 12th, Monday, 7:30PM
VIRTUAL
Barrington Stage Company commissioned Bekah Brunstetter (Broadway’s The Cake, NBC’s This is Us) to write a new piece and the expectedly poignant result is Mother’s Day. Mara, approaching her forties, clings to the hope that this time the nascent seed of a child will grow beyond the size of a raspberry, a grapefruit or a pineapple and finally make her a mother. Mother’s Day explores one woman’s journey along the sometimes rocky path to motherhood. On April 12th, there will be a talkback with Bekah, the cast and director. Jennifer Chambers. Tickets $25, Talkback tickets $50.

SPRING MIGRATION: BIRDER’S PARADISE
April 11th, Sunday, 7 - 8PM
VIRTUAL
Spring is such an exciting time for everyone as the weather gets warmer, flowers start to emerge from the ground and leaves grow to their former glory. For birdwatchers spring has an especially exciting meaning as it is the time when billions of birds leave their wintering grounds to venture north seeking nesting grounds where they can raise a family before returning later in the year. Join Caleb May for this talk as he covers some of the species, tips and tricks and background knowledge to help you maximize your birding experience before the birds leave once again. Free.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BAKED BEANS: FOOD TALES
April 14th, Wednesday, 7PM
VIRTUAL
The Truth About Baked Beans explores New England’s culinary myths and reality through some of the regions most famous foods: baked beans, clams and Yankee pot roast. From 1870 to 1920 the idea of New England food was carefully constructed in magazines, newspapers and cookbooks, often through fictitious and sometimes bizarre origin stories touted as time-honored American legends. Author Meg Muckenhoupt’s toothsome volume, complete with historic and contemporary recipes, reveals the true story behind these dishes helping to reclaim the culinary heritage of immigrants and to explain why and how “New England” food actually came to be. Free.
