THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE: AN ORAL HISTORY
IN PERSON & VIRTUAL
January 25th, Wednesday, 2PM
Join historian Aaron Elson as he shares oral histories from the brave WWII veterans who served in The Battle of the Bulge. The battle—a last-ditch attempt by Hitler to halt the allied advance—would turn out to be the largest and bloodiest single battle fought by the US in World War II. For Aaron, preserving and sharing the oral history of these veterans is a deep-felt passion, and he has recorded more than 700 hours of interviews and conversations with men and women of the Greatest Generation. Aaron has turned that work into several books and a podcast with over 100 episodes. Free.
Oliver Wolcott Library. 160 South Street. Litchfield CT. 860.567.8030.

GET THE LED OUT: A CELEBRATION OF THE MIGHTY ZEP
IN PERSON
January 27th, Friday, 8PM
From the bombastic and epic, to the folky and mystical, Get The Led Out (GTLO) has captured the essence of the recorded music of Led Zeppelin and brought it to the concert stage. It’s the passion and fury with which they deliver the blues-soaked, groove-driven rock anthems, and their attention to detail and nuance that makes a Get The Led Out performance a truly awe-inspiring event. Starting at $32.
The Warner Theatre. 68 Main Street. Torrington CT. 860.489.7180.

A SHEFFIELD SCHUBERTIADE
IN PERSON
January 29th, Sunday, 2PM
Enjoy the first concert of the 2021 Lich Gate Concerts Series celebrating 226th birthday of Franz Schubert. Schubert, a bohemian at heart, had an intimate circle of friends including painters, musicians, writers, and talented artistic dilettantes. Gathering in the evenings, they would carouse, play charades, and dance with Schubert at the piano, often for hours, calling the evenings “Schubertiades.” Come to this Sheffield Schubertiade, an afternoon of fine music-making in the acoustically superb Old Parish Church and experience first-hand what an afternoon hausmusik konzert, or house music concert, was like in Schubert’s Vienna. $20 Students, $40 Adults.
First Congregational Church of Sheffield. 125 Main Street. Sheffield MA.
