THE LAST WIFE: A FEMINIST IN THE ROYAL COURT
November 3rd-5th, Times Vary

This past weekend I had the pleasure of seeing WAM’s production of “The Last Wife.” The play tells the story of early feminist Katherine Parr—Henry VIII’s 6th and final wife— as she navigates a deeply entrenched patriarchy, complex sexual politics and her own feminist agenda in the royal court. Weaving modern colloquialisms and Old English language, the play also examines familial relationships between half-siblings, their stepmother and a volatile but increasingly vulnerable father in his last years of life. This play is truly not to be missed. Tickets can be purchased online. $36-44
