PEE WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE: THROW BACK DRIVE IN

If a drive-in movie theater isn’t “throwback” enough, the Four Brothers Drive-In in Amenia is hosting a “Throwback Thursday” (also known on social media as “TBT”) party this week with a screening of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Enjoy tequila cocktails, live music, a roaring fire pit, delicious food (that you can order on your phone!), a free commemorative poster and a big screen filled with Pee Wee. Happy hours starts at 7:15PM and the film will starts as dusk. Purchase tickets online before they sell out! $13.

DESIGNER SHOWCASE HOME TOURS: HOSPITABLE HUDSON

During the day leisurely stroll around town with self-guided tour of Hudson’s Historic Bronson House and six other architecturally significant Hudson homes. Each home has a room that showcases the work of a local designer and who doesn’t want to take a peek into the design that lies behind the ultimate “curb appeal” homes in Hudson? After your tour, find stations around town serving design-themed cocktail creations and artistic inspiration. $20 Advance, $25 Day-of.

CHESTERWOOD PREVIEW & OPENING DAY: TRAILBLAZING

Chesterwood is holding a ticketed Preview Opening Reception for a first glimpse of its new Permanent Collections Gallery—featuring more than150 sculptures by Daniel Chester French and portraits of the artist and family members. Tickets for the party are $75 for members and $95 Non-members. Then on Saturday, there will be a ribbon cutting to celebrate this opening and a hike to celebrate the restoration of Chesterwood’s historic Ledges Trail designed by Daniel Chester French himself. The guided hike will be led by staff from the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area and the Greenagers. Free.

DECORATIVE KITCHEN GARDENS: COLLABORATIVE CONTAINERS

If you, like me, have limited outdoor space in the sun, outdoor containers are a compact way to make sure you get your daily vegetable season with fresh herbs and decorate with fresh-cut flowers. Different species offer complimentary features and can be combined to promote growth and good health for each other. In this workshop, designer Chris Zaima will begin with a selection of images of finished plantings and will then demonstrate the art of mixing plant material to create beautiful and useful kitchen garden containers. $30 Members, $35 Non-Members.

ROSIE THE RIVETER: 75 YEARS YOUNG
May 26th, Saturday 1 - 4PM

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of Rockwell’s iconic 1943 Post cover, Rosie the Riveter, during an afternoon of talks, workshops, music, and dance. The Albany Berkshire Ballet will present Rockwell Suites, featuring a vignette inspired by the artist’s tribute to World War II women in the workforce. Curator talks, art activities, a Rosie the Riveter look-alike contest and reflections from members of the Rosie the Riveter Association will round out this lively day. $20 Adults, Free Members & Kids under 18.

TONY DiTERLIZZI: NEVER ABONDON IMAGINATION
May 27th, Sunday, 1 - 4PM

Tony DiTerlizzi is a bestselling and award-winning illustrator and author who has been creating illustrated books for nearly two decades. This Sunday, he’ll be discussing his popular card illustrations for Dungeons and Dragons and Magic:The Gathering as well as his work on the famed Spiderwick Chronicles. Meet the artist at this special event which will feature drawing demonstrations, exhibition tours, readings, and a talk and book signing by the artist. Free for Museum members, or included with Museum admission. Children free to age 18
