Former White House photographer Chuck Kennedy will present a program on his eight year journey following President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. With a mandate to build the richest and most complete photographic record for the future, Kennedy honored his part in recording the public moments for history books and the private moments for illuminating the experience and the humanity of President Barack Obama. View these incredible images in his exhibit right here in the Berkshires on the walls of the Shaker Dam Coffee House and enjoy a reception there following the talk. $20

7TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL:
WINNING WORKS

October 12th & 13th, Friday & Saturday, 8PM

This two day event celebrates the work of emerging and established playwrights across the country and across the globe and builds a link between these playwrights, the theatre community and audiences. 150 plays were accepted for consideration, 9 winners were selected and one play was invited to participate in this year’s 2018 festival. The selections come from Connecticut, California and even Portugal offering varying perspectives on this year’s theme: The Human Condition? $18

With just a few steps, you’ll learn how to transform humble cabbage into delicious, tangy, preserved dishes. Close Encounters With Music is recognizing the 150th anniversary of the death of the great Italian composer Rossini with an evening illustrating the wide range of his music—at once majestic, hilariously wicked and sparkling. This season opening program includes arias and duets from Tancredi, Adina, Cenerentola, and selections from his brilliant piano music Sins of Old Age composed at the end of his life. THE LETTERS PROJECT: NOT IN THE HISTORY BOOKS
October 17th, Wednesday, 7- 8PM

In what promises to be a moving, entertaining and thought-provoking evening, John Fabiani and a group of special guest readers will bring an extraordinary collection of letters to life. Fabiani promises “war letters, letters of immigrants to their families back home, letters from summer camp, break-up letters, letters to the editor by the famous, the infamous and unknown….You can learn about the Oregon Trail from Independence, Mississippi to the Willamette Valley, but until you read a letter from a mother who had to bury her child on the way, you don’t know the grief and hardship that it took to get there.” Pre-registration required.
