VISIBLE MENDING: REVIVING THE OLDIES BUT GOODIES
November 29th, Thursday, 6:30PM

Imagine a world where every rip in a pair of jeans, every snag in a sweater, and every tear becomes an opportunity for a one-of-a-kind creation. In this fun introduction to unconventional mending techniques, Karen Stevens will demonstrate how anyone can give worn and torn items a new look and life. Bring those trusty Levi’s or a winter wool sweater—woven’s only—to rescue it from the giveaway pile. Materials will be provided but, of course, bring your favorite sewing kit or scrap fabric to make it your own. Free.

THE KING AND I: AN EVERLASTING ROMANCE

THE WALKING CURE: HIKING WITH NIETZSCHE
December 1st, Saturday, 4-5PM

In an invigorating and inspiring talk, acclaimed author John Kaag brings his book Hiking With Nietzche to life, revealing how the power of philosophy and hiking can help us live more fully and deeply. Kaag draws on his own experience in the Swiss Alps where, at two crucial points in his life, he retraces the steps of the seminal thinker Freidrich Nietzsche, who wrote his foundational works there. The Atlantic praised Hiking with Nietzsche as a book that) “heals us, not by making us feel better, but by making us well,“ and National Public Radio has deemed it a "stimulating book about combating despair and complacency with searching reflection." BUGLISI DANCE THEATRE: MULTI-DIMENSIONAL MOVEMENT

Buglisi Dance Theatre, an esteemed company that has been honored with the American Dance Guild Award for Artistic Excellence, is currently in residence at Kaatsbaan Dance Center and will be performing a compilation of its seminal pieces. In her choreography, Artistic Director Jacqulyn Buglisi takes a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural approach. By integrating different art forms through a collaborative process, Buglisi strives to inspire, engage and attract a new generation of artists and diverse audiences, brought together into the realm of theatrical dance theatre. If you are unable to attend the main event, a free open rehearsal will be taking place on Thursday, November 29th at 2PM. $30 Adults, $10 Children and Students.
