FOREST BATHING: A WALK IN THE WOODS
December 8th, Saturday, 4:30-6PM

People have been retreating to the woods for quiet, meditation and inspiration for centuries and many of us do so with regularity here in the Berkshires. Inspired by the Japanese concept of shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, poet Hannah Fries invites her readers to bask in the company of trees—whether in Central Park or at Notchview. Fries combines personal reflections and guided mindfulness exercises with a curated selection of inspirational writing from the likes of Japanese haiku masters, 19th century European Romantics, American Transcendentalists and contemporary environmentalists. Forest bathing is a practice many of us have done for years without realizing, so allow the author to inspire a fresh take on an ancient ritual. Free.
