Jams in the Hamlet

Life is returning to normal in the Berkshires as more and more residents and visitors avail themselves of the Covid-19 vaccine. Among the events planned for this season is a series of live monthly music concerts, Jams in the Hamlet, to be held from May through October.

Up first the Sleepy Hollow String Band will perform a mix of bluegrass, retro country and rockabilly. Its May 15th appearance in Hillsdale Hamlet Park, from 5 to 7PM, kicks off a full summer and fall of music, all to be offered on the third Saturday of the month, with the exception of the October concert, which coincides with the Pumpkin Fest on the second Saturday.

The park opens at 4PM and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The series features professional musicians performing a different musical genre each month. Other performers include: June 19th, classical music with the Hudson Festival Players; July 17th, jazz with the Hudson Valley Jazz Quartet; August 21st, singer/songwriters Kerri Powers and Lisa and Lori Brigantino; September 18th, children’s performer and Grammy nominee Brady Rymer and Claudia Mussen; October 9th, Community Talent Night.

Food and drink will be available for purchase from the Roe Jan Brewery, Little Apple Cidery, Bacon’s Pizza and Mama Lo’s BBQ. The series sponsors are Taconic Ridge Farm, Hawthorne Valley Farm Store, Random Harvest Market and the Hillsdale Economic Development Committee, with more to be announced. Funds for the event are being raised through the sale of “Jams in the Hamlet” merchandise.
