T-Shirts for a Cause

by Penny Michels

One of the best tributes we can make to our Boston neighbors in the wake of this year’s Marathon is to add strength to our own Berkshire communities. To this end, we have found a young company that supports the dreams and goals of people, organizations and communities through producing and distributing its apparel.

Freshstart Brands™ is a collaborative effort of artists and charitable organizations to raise money and awareness for worthwhile causes while providing income and exposure for independent artists. Based in Copake, NY, this group of young entrepreneurs is already making a difference.

Adam Reznikoff, Freshstart’s modest founder, put it this way: ”We believe in a culture that measures success by impact as well as growth, and that leads by example in the allocation of its assets.” That is why they donate $5 from the sale of every garment to the associated charitable cause or organization

Their current line of certified organic t-shirts features a series of signed, original designs, created specifically to support the arts, or the environment, or community organizations. Artist Mark Rosenthal, who teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design, was among the first to contribute his talent; but new designs from other artists are appearing daily.<a href=" http://freshstartbrands.com/the-artists/" target="_new"> freshstartbrands.com

Freshstart Brands™ has donated to a number of Art, Conservation, and Community non-profits including Berkshire Creative, the Columbia Land Conservancy, Berkshire Natural Resources Council, Northwest Connecticut Arts Council, and K-9s for Veterans and will donate to the nearest county based arts council, health care resource or land conservation organization
