Village Scoop

Artisanal Ice Cream & Alcohol-Free Bar

Funky is fine in the summertime and that is what the Village Scoop offers up Thursdays through Sundays at an informal eatery located on State Route 23 in Hillsdale’s Village Square.

The venue is open Thursdays and Sundays from 8AM to 9PM, Fridays and Saturdays from 8AM to 10PM.

Owners Ken Davis and Kevin Draves have extended the offerings of their popular artisanal ice cream parlor with selections of cheeses and yogurts from Columbia County farms and creameries, breads from County bakeries and items to nosh prepared onsite.

The menu includes granola and yogurt cups with varied toppings for breakfast, as well as cheeseboards featuring daily selections of goat, sheep and/or cow’s cheeses served with bread, crackers and house-made cheese compote. There is also a chef’s choice charcuterie and cheese duo.

For those looking for a lighter nosh, there are house-made caramel popcorn, house-made seasoned nuts, chips with a salsa of the day, cornichons and crostini and more.

And for those with a taste for a fancy cocktails with all the trimmings—but without the alcohol—the partners have added the County’s first alcohol free bar, serving appropriately named Mocktails.

Dessert lovers can create-their-own ice cream concoctions or enjoy one of the many specialties of the house: Milkshakes, sundaes, floats, coffees and baked goods.

Davis and Draves, who own Passiflora Home & Gifts right next door to the Village Scoop, converted an old tattoo parlor into the ice cream parlor in 2012.

Responding to feedback from clientele that asked that they be open in the morning and evening, they anticipate providing live music during the summer months for the entertainment of their patrons.
