Winter Studio Festival

The weather outside has been frightful, but Shakespeare & Company will soon heat things up with its Winter Studio Festival of Plays to be presented on January 13th and 14th.

This weekend’s staged readings will showcase emerging and established playwrights, and feature company artists. All performances will take place in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre on the Shakespeare & Company campus in Lenox.

Artistic Director Allyn Burrows said the annual festival will present five plays, Wonders of the Invisible World, a new play by Liz Duffy Adams directed by the OBIE award-winning Nela Wagman; The Shadow of a Doubt, the newly discovered play by Berkshire legend Edith Wharton directed by Normi Noel; Timebomb, a new play by Carson Kreitzer directed by Allyn Burrows; the Pulitzer Prize-winning Buried Child, by Sam Shepard, directed by Charles Towers; and The Whirligig, written and directed by Hamish Linklater, best known for the movies, The Big Short and the The Fantastic Four and the series Fargo.

The schedule is Saturday, Timebomb, 1 PM; Wonders of the Invisible World, 4PM; and Buried Child, 7PM. Sunday, brings The Shadow of a Doubt, 1PM; and The Whirligig, 4PM.

Each reading will be followed by a post-show discussion with the artists.
