Board & Beam

While exploring the Berkshires you may notice the many dilapidated barns that seem to blend in with the countryside.  Once functional years ago they have been left to crumble and fall.

Matt Franjola of Board and Beam sees possibility and new life rather than ruin.  For over 20 years he has been salvaging, restoring and repurposing the boards, beams, doors and architectural elements of these ghostly barns.

Every piece Matt creates is custom made. The possibilities are endless and no two pieces are exactly the same; this is the expression of his materials.  Each board has its own rustic imperfection that adds to its beauty.

When visiting his workshop one can feel the history of each piece of wood.  For hand crafted furniture, perfectly unique and built just for you, visit his shop located in Kent, CT.
