Boxwood Linen

July 4th is a time for picnics and outdoor fun, but last week’s cloudy skies had a silver lining for Franca Fusco, designer for and owner of Boxwood Linen, which reopened July 2 in a new location at 22 Main Street in Chatham NY.

“It was a good weekend,” she said. “There were a lot of people in town and, with the rain on Saturday, they went shopping.”

Fusco’s storefront operation had been closed for four weeks as she moved from her previous location in Hillsdale. “The builders finished up and I’ve got things unpacked,” she said with relief. “No more dust worries.”

Now she is concentrating on displaying to best advantage her high-end linen products, designed and handmade in her Ghent NY workshop. “I buy the fabric and then cut and sew whatever the linen tells me—whether it is a napkin or a tablecloth.”

She will also create one-of-a-kind custom pieces and embroider whatever a client wants on the finished product. “I do a lot of custom work,” she said. “There are linen shops that monogram and custom sewers, but I don’t think there is anyone exactly like me. I will make anything in linen, whether it is for the kitchen, dining room, bath or bed.”

Complementing the linens are lines of soaps, candles, dishware and wooden bowls. “My lines will change constantly,” she promised.

Boxwood Linen is open 10AM - 5PM Thursday through Sunday.
