A REGIONAL GUIDE
It's funny how many things changed in 2020 as the country hunkered down to endure the Covid pandemic. This year bids fair to restore some normalcy and July 4th is one of the first holidays to reflect the improving conditions. Some traditional firework displays have been cancelled but more remain, from Lime Rock Park's famous show to Williamstown’s display. We've gathered all the best ones; now you just have to choose which one.
JULY 3rd
Salisbury, Connecticut
The wildly-popular event at Lime Rock Park attracts spectators from all over Connecticut. The Salisbury Rotary Club and Lime Rock Park co-sponsor the annual Independence Day Fireworks at 9:15 PM; $20 per car or $5 per person walking in. Gates open at 6PM. Rain date Sunday.
JULY 4th
Lenox, Massachusetts
James Taylor will not play at Tanglewood this year nor will there be fireworks over the Stockbridge Bowl. Instead, 9,000 people will receive free tickets to watch Keith Lockhart leading the Boston Pops in a live televised performance with special appearances by Jon Batiste and soul singer Mavis Staples. The show begins at 8 PM. The firework finale live streamed from Boston Commons.
North Adams, Massachusetts
After the annual Fourth of July SteepleCats game at Joe Wolfe Field, fireworks start about 9:30 PM.
Wlliamstown, Massachusetts
The town has planned a fun-filled day of events including live music and concluding with fireworks over Taconic Golf Club at 9:30 PM.
Germantown, New York
Clermont State Historic Site hosts its annual Old-Fashioned Independence Day. The day includes 18th-century crafts, hot food and period entertainment. Sadly, the fireworks display has been cancelled for this year.
Amenia, New York
The Amenia Fire company will hold fireworks at dusk. Gates open at 7:30 PM. Fireworks begin at 9.30. Parking is limited to 300 cars at Silo Ridge Field Club Equestrian Center, 217 Depot Hill Road.
Rhinebeck, New York
Gates open to vehicles at 7:30 PM; fireworks at 9.30. Parking limited to 3,000 cars at Dutchess County Fairgrounds, 6636 Route 9.
JULY 9th
Torrington, Connecticut
Gates open at 4PM for the 9:15 show; rain date of Saturday, July 10, 2021; Torrington Middle School Property, 200 Middle School Drive.
JULY 10th
Otis, Massachusetts
Annual fireworks, Tolland State Forest Beach. Begins at dusk; rain date is July 17th.
JULY 17th
North Canaan, Connecticut
Held at Lawrence Field, the fireworks finish off Railroad Days which is chock full of family-friendly events over the course of five days. 9PM.
