There are few things more magical than New England Fall; it means cozy sweaters, falling leaves, cool breezes, hearty soups and most importantly apples. For those who want an ultimate apple experience, this week’s Berkshire Style’s favorite thing, Golden Harvest Farms, is the place.
The farm, in Valatie, New York, has been providing the Hudson Valley with apples for 55 years. If you like to pick your own, there are over fifteen varieties in the expansive orchard. All of the varieties are also available for purchase in the stand, if picking doesn’t suit your schedule. The old-fashioned stand also offers apple cider, a fantastic selection of jams, maple syrup and other local goods.
For our adult readers the farm has a micro-distillery on site. Most famous for their Core Vodka, made from apples of course, they have a variety of must-taste spirits including Rare Pear Brandy and Cornelius Applejack.
Most memorable, however, are the apple cider doughnuts. Be sure to treat yourself to one, or a few, after all, picking can be hard work!
