CAMELOT: UNLUCKY IN LOVE

The newly revived Mac-Haydn Theatre is kicking off its 51st season with the Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe classic, Camelot. This soaring masterpiece tells the tale of the legendary love triangle between King Arthur, Guinevere and Sir Lancelot. The fate of the kingdom hangs in the balance as a young idealistic Arthur, with his roundtable, try to maintain honor and dignity. Classic hits like “If Ever I Would Leave You,” “The Lusty Month of May,” and the title song “Camelot” will thrill and delight. $15 - 40.

DOCUMENTARY FILM PRODUCTION WITH FILMMAKER GORST
May 23rd, Thursday, 7 - 8PM

Litchfield is home to Mainspring Narrative Films, a documentary production company headed by Emmy Award winning filmmaker Jake Gorst. Join Gorst for his slide talk with projected film clips about the ins-and-outs of documentary film production and his decades-long experience producing films for public television (including Leisurama, 2005 and Farmboy, 2006) as well as the big screen. Get a first glimpse at newly discovered, carefully restored, archival footage. Free.

HUDSON BERKSHIRE WINE FESTIVAL: LOCAL-ISCIOUS
May 25th, Saturday, 11AM - 6PM and May 26th, Sunday, 11AM - 5PM

This unique interstate festival features award-winning wineries, distilleries, cider and craft breweries from the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. Browse the displays by local crafters, jewelers and artisans, taste the samples of gourmet cheeses, olives, jams and baked items  from local purveyors and feast on Jason Hall’s Gourmet Foods for lunch. The event is family friendly—there will be a petting zoo for children along with other activities—and tickets for kids under 12 are free. $10 - 25.

2019 CT TRAILS DAY: LITCHFIELD COUNTY
May 25th & 26th, Saturday and Sunday, Times vary.

This weekend throughout the state of Connecticut, dozens of walks and hikes will be led by expert trails men and women, historians and conservationists to help residents embrace the land around them. Land Manager for the Kent Land Trust, Mike Benjamin, and Master Herbalist and local wildflower aficionado, Alicia Northand, will lead a wildflower walk through Tobin Preserve in Kent. Or enjoy an educational walk with the Great Mountain Forest Manager and a forest ecologist to learn about the forest’s history and management, passing through a sugarbush, a pine plantation, upland hardwoods, old pasture and a New England Cottontail rabbit habitat area. Look at the CT Woodlands website to learn about many other interesting and some more rugged hikes. Free.
