LITCHFIELD JAZZ FEST: MARIO PAVONE & HIS DIALECT TRIO

Enjoy the sounds bassist/composer/bandleader Mario Pavone and his Dialect Trio as they take the stage live at the Telefunken Soundstage in South Windsor, CT. The New Yorker hailed Pavone’s skills, saying “the sheer dynamism of his playing is matched by the lustre of his writing and arranging.” Together with Matt Mitchell on piano and Tyshawn Sorey on drums, the three members of the Dialect Trio have long been some of the most in-demand improvisers on the NYC jazz scene. The performance will be streaming live on Litchfield Jazz Festival’s YouTube channel. Free.

ALL THE BELLES:
THE MONTGOMERY STORIES OF F. SCOTT FITZGERALD

During his Roaring Twenties heyday, F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote three stories about the belles of fictional Tarleton, Georgia inspired by his own belle wife Zelda Sayre and her own hometown of Montgomery, Alabama. Known as The Montgomery Stories, they are minor masterpieces long regarded as the very best of the 160+ short stories the writer published during his short life. Author and executive director of the F. Scott Fitzgerald Society, Dr. Kirk Curnutt, assembled these stories in All of the Belles which have never been collected in a single volume and will present Fitzgerald’s insight into Montgomery high society. BARD COLLEGE CONSERVATORY: SHOWCASE WEEKEND

The Student and Faculty Showcase Weekend at the Bard College Conservatory of Music always proves that the future of classical music is in good hands! Saturday’s performance includes Pablo Casals’ Song of the Birds featuring La Sardana, Cello choir and students from the Music Program, Conservatory and The Orchestra Now as well as Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons performed by the Conservatory Orchestra. This conscientious duo will speak to the social and ecological impact of coffee production, including environmental factors and concerns related to climate change and organic growing methods.
