Join an evening of laughter as attorney and author Thomas Morrison discusses his recently released book, Please Pass the Tort$, a sequel to his popular 2020 book Torts R Us. The book follows the zany shenanigans of tort lawyers and brothers “Pap” and “Pup”—their antics ranging from filing a lawsuit against the Russian government for entrapping a Congressman in a honey trap to attempting to liberate all the chimpanzees at the Bronx Zoo. Morrison takes what many consider among the most boring of subjects and does the impossible—transforming tort law into hilarious high jinxs and portraying lovable lawyers. Free.

Mr. Hecht’s impressive resume includes positions such as former president of Nickelodeon Entertainment (where he oversaw the development and production of Spongebob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer, Blue’s Clues and many other hit shows), creator and President of SpikeTV and producer of a dozen feature documentaries, including the Oscar nominated and Emmy winner WAR/DANCE. BEYOND THE WRITING OF FICTION: WOMAN IN CAR

In January the Mount celebrates Edith Wharton’s birthday, commemorating her literary legacy. This coming Tuesday, screenwriter and director Vanya Rose will be discussing her new film WOMAN IN CAR inspired by Wharton’s 1912 novel, The Reef, with author Courtney Maum. As part of The Mount’s new monthly “Beyond the Writing of Fiction” craft series, Maum will converse with self-published authors, screenwriters, mystery writers and more, the breadth and diversity of interviewees honoring Edith Wharton’s own affection for various forms of writing.
