BLOCK PRINTMAKING: CARVE OUT SOME TIME
IN PERSON
April 26th, Friday, 1PM - 2:30PM
Printmaking by hand is never perfect, an integral part of its beauty. Together with the Art & Adventure Coordinator from TOURISTS Hotel, you’ll carve intricate drawings into reusable blocks to create stamps for printing artwork. Templates will be provided to get the mind moving as well as linocut tools, ink colors, handheld brayers and card stock. Take home finished prints and reuse your stamp to your heart’s content—stationary, wrapping paper, garments, you name it. $40.

CITY NATURE CHALLENGE: SPRING EPHEMERALS
IN PERSON
April 26th, Friday, 3PM - 5PM
The City Nature Challenge is an international effort to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe in a bioblitz-style competition between cities to see who can make the most observations of nature, who can find the most species and who can engage the most people. Learn how to use the iNaturalist app on your phone and practice with the variety of spring ephemerals found at The Boulders reserve this time of year during this moderate walk. You’ll come away from this program as a community scientist ready to participate in the next 3 days of the City Nature Challenge. Participate with family, friends, coworkers, community members, anyone as your participation makes an impact on understanding biodiversity and coexisting with nature. Free.

POLLINATOR PARADISE: PROTECTING THE PLANET

Bee-friendly backyards support pollinators and beneficial insects, essential for protecting our planet and also happen to make gardens more beautiful. In this talk, Master Gardener Chris Ferrero will discuss important pollinators and their needs and habits in a garden. Participants will discover ways to adapt home landscapes to attract and sustain pollinators with a wide diversity of flowering plants for home gardens and learn about the importance of native plants and the role of “nativars.” $25 - $40.

Held at Ventfort Hall, all proceeds from BerkChique! go to local nonprofits including Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum, WAM Theatre Company, Berkshire Humane Society, Community Access to the Arts (CATA) and Berkshire Art Center. GREAT BARRINGTON PUBLIC THEATER: 10-MINUTE PLAYS

Great Barrington Public Theater is presenting a free reading of a selection of new 10-minute plays from Berkshire Voices—GBPT’s initiative that offers support and resources to writers at every stage of their career. Co-edited by Liam Castellan and Joshua Briggs, the plays include: Waiting for Catastrophe from Gabrielle Orcha, A One Act of Contrition from Joe Lyman and Dating in the Workplace and Other Acts of Courage from Castellan himself.
