ERIC SCHNALL: I MAKE ENVY ON YOUR DISCO

It’s the new millennium and the anxiety of midlife is creeping up on Sam Singer, a thirty-seven-year-old art advisor. Fed up with his partner and his life in New York, Sam flies to Berlin to attend a gallery opening. There he finds a once-divided city facing an identity crisis of its own. Eric Schnall’s I Make Envy on Your Disco, is the winner of the Barbara Dibernard Prize in Fiction and has been described by actor and icon Alan Cumming as “a love letter to Berlin, to travel, and to saying yes to life.” Schnall has worked on and off Broadway as a producer and marketing director for more than twenty-five years. He won a Tony Award for the Broadway revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and a Lucille Lortel Award for Fleabag. $17.

HUDSON FILM FESTIVAL: LOCAL MEETS GLOBAL

The Hudson Film Festival in Hudson NY serves as a platform to champion and showcase underrepresented local and global films, filmmakers, artisans talent, and classic favorites. The Festival focuses on works by local, global, female, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ talent and filmmakers reflecting the diversity of the region. The Feature Film of the festival is The Supremes At Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat from director Tina Mary, starring Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Sanaa Lathan, Uzo Aduba. Three best friends dubbed ‘The Supremes’ have weathered life’s storms for two generations, through marriage and children, happiness and the blues, when they find themselves at a crossroad that tests their lifelong bond. There will also be a family screening of Wes Andersen’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Prices vary for events.

6TH ANNUAL ART OF BREWING: AN ARTFUL BEER TASTING

August 10th, Saturday, 1PM - 4PM
Returning for its 6th year, the annual Art of Brewing Festival offers guests a chance to sample the best craft brews in the region. Spend an afternoon with friends and families while sampling local and regional beer, wine, cider, distilled drinks and even coffee! Enjoy delicious food from local eateries and start a friendly competition with some lawn games. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and relax on a perfect Berkshire summer day. And an opportunity to see the art found on your favorite beverages and talk to some of the artists! $30 - $45.

AUGUSTFEST IN THE VILLAGE: BRATS, BEERS AND BOOKS

The David M. Hunt Library in Falls Village CT is hosting its annual fundraiser AugustFest in the Village once again this weekend. Held outdoors on the library’s shady lawn, this fundraiser will feature grilled brats from Nodine’s Smokehouse, craft beers from Norbrook Farm Brewery, hot pretzels from The Falls Village Inn, a silent auction, and live music by Kane Clawson with Country Jam performing songs by Patsy Cline and others. There will be a vegetarian option and lemonade and each guest will receive a limited-edition Hunt Library cup. This event is one of the library’s biggest fundraisers and is the perfect open-air occasion to get out and catch up with your Falls Village community neighbors and friends. $30 Adults, $5 Kids under 12.
