WINE AND VINE: A STUDY IN BORDEAUX

Join wine educator Amanda Schark of AP Wine Imports & Dare Bottleshop on the picturesque terrace at The Mount for an evening focused on some of the most collected and exalted wines from Bordeaux, France. Through a tasting of six different wines from both banks, you’ll dive into the history, geography and terroir that sets Bordeaux apart while comparing and contrasting top appellations, styles and vintages. The Wine and Vine series celebrates Wharton's love of libations--in life and on the page--so join and raise a glass to the rich winemaking tradition of Bordeaux on the beautiful premises of The Mount!

THE POWER OF EMPATHY: FILM SCREENING & WORKSHOP

Berkshire Style's very own Caroline Phipps is hosting this unique experience which provides a rare opportunity for participants to explore the complexities of love and relationships in a powerful, revealing yet fun way to use storytelling. This collaborative, nonjudgmental process encourages participants to immerse themselves in the intimate lives of strangers, suspend snap judgments, share experiences and open their hearts to others—even those with whom we may not agree or fully understand. We live in complex and turbulent times. This workshop aims to help participants navigate their lives more peacefully and productively by better understanding themselves and others, move beyond stereotypes and increase empathy. Light hors d'oeuvres and drinks to follow. Pay as you wish, valued at $250 per person.

SALISBURY WINTER SPORTS PRESENTS: 2024 BREW-SKI FEST

The 15th Annual Brew-Ski Fest returns to the Salisbury Ski Jumps  with music, pumpkins, cornstalks, food and nearly 40 craft breweries offering visitors examples of their best brews. The popular event is part of Salisbury's Fall Festival Weekend. For the past 14 years the popular event has been delighting beer aficionados with its rich, diverse beer offerings in a fun, intimate setting. Unlike big beer-tasting events where you stand in line seemingly forever to get a taste, at Brew-Ski, you walk right up, ask for a beverage and chat with knowledgeable folks from breweries around the country. $30.

2024 ELECTIONS: AN EXISTENTIAL MOMENT FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS

The MAGA policy agenda Project 2025 proposes a radical reversal of women's rights established over the last 50 years. In this talk Professor Carrie Baker will explain the candidates' different visions of women's rights and what's at stake in the November election for women's lives. Carrie N. Baker, J.D., Ph.D., is the Bauman professor of American Studies and Chair of the Program for the Study of Women and Gender at Smith College. Her research and teaching focus on gender, law and public policy, including reproductive rights, sexual harassment and sex trafficking. Her forthcoming book, Abortion Pills: U.S. History and Politics (Amherst College Press) is due in December. $10 - $15.

GALILEO'S DAUGHTER: TRUTH, FAITH, AND FORGIVENESS

Galileo's Daughter, a fast-moving, funny and heart-warming play, a co-production between WAM Theatre and Boston-based Central Square Theater, is making its New England premiere. A playwright, rattled by a personal crisis, flees to Florence to study the letters between Galileo and his eldest daughter Maria Celeste. Caught up in the threats against her father, Maria must abandon her work and join a convent. The writer’s discovery of Maria’s strength and tenacity inspires her own pursuit of purpose. Alternating between past and present, this play is a personal examination of faith, forgiveness and the cost of seeking and speaking truth. Starting at $25.
