MIXED MEDIA: VISION BOARD WORKSHOP

In this mixed-media workshop, participants will create personalized intention boards ahead of the new year. Using collage, assemblage, paint, and playful embellishing, you’ll reflect on what brings you joy, set intentions for the season, and create a vibrant artwork to brighten the winter months. This process will invite community, connection, reflection and imagination. $50.

AMERICA’S FIRST COOKBOOK: CULINARY TIME CAPSULE

Step back in time to explore the rich tapestry of the nation's first-ever native cookbook, American Cookery. Penned by the enigmatic orphan Amelia Simmons, this culinary time capsule shows the recipes of early American cuisine, the melting pot of European traditions, Native American ingredients and innovative cooking techniques. Historian and storyteller John Cilio's presentation showcases the groundbreaking 13-edition cookbook and the evolution of cookbooks in early America. Attend in-person or online. Free.

FINDING OUR WAY: POETRY AND MEDITATION

Join Buddhist priest Brian Vaugh of Naugatauck and Woodbury poet laureate emerita Sandy Carlson as they lead an inward journey through guided meditations, reflection and discussion of passages from the Tao Te Ching with a writing workshop. In this safe space participants will be invited to find their way engaging the imagery of the Tao in their poetic expression. $75, scholarships available.

SOUNDS OF SWING: JAZZ AGE ILLUSTRATION AND MUSIC
