Museum of the Moon
A full calendar of events complements the Berkshire Museum’s latest exhibit, Museum of the Moon, an installation of lunar views and glowing moonlight by UK artist Luke Jerram. The exhibit is accompanied by an ethereal soundscape by award-winning composer Dan Jones and brings together the best of science, starlight and celebratory seasonal fun.
Museum of the Moon is an exact replica of Earth’s moon, a gently glowing orb suspended in midair. The installation was created using NASA imagery of the lunar surface, inspiring those who experience it to contemplate the many ways the moon connects humankind across time and culture.
Among the activities accompanying the exhibit are family-friendly magic shows and activities, a Paint & Sip, choral music, morning classes from Radiance Yoga, poetry and a screening of a new documentary about NASA astronauts, The Wonderful. The screening will be followed by discussion with astronaut Cady Coleman and Josh Simpson, a deep space and cosmos-inspired glass artist.
The Berkshire Museum is open 7 days a week. 39 South Street (Route 7) Pittsfield, MA 01201. Please click on the link below for a full schedule of events.
