Passport Kitchen
On First Fridays
Berkshire Botanical Garden will be the site for the first of four “First Friday Passport Kitchen” events with After Hours owner/chef Kevin Kelly on Friday evening.
The series, held on the first Friday of the month through June 6, 5 to 7:30PM, is designed to satisfy curiosity about the culinary world through hands-on, experiential learning. The classes will cover the basic techniques and flavor affinities from across the globe.
In each of the four sessions participants will work with local and seasonal produce to explore internationally influenced cuisine. Each session will focus on two to three curated dishes in a geographical area, from the Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, Latin America to the Middle East, and will conclude with a family-style meal for all participants.
Kelly, who grew up in Great Barrington, started his restaurant career at Allium Restaurant and Bar in Great Barrington MA and was quickly hooked on the upbeat and lively atmosphere of the food industry. Over the next 10 years, he would hold nearly every position in the restaurant industry, cooking in some of Boston’s most highly awarded kitchens.
After graduating from business school at Babson College, he returned to the Berkshires where he established his innovative restaurant without walls, collaborating with other business sites to serve meals at their locations during their “after hours.”
Those who cannot attend the entire series can sign up for individual classes. The first session is sold out, but reservations can still be made for the remaining classes. Just click on the link below.
