Pick your Own
Plump purple plums. Round red raspberries. Perfect peaches, nice nectarines and a plethora of peppers, peas and other vegetables are all available for harvesting at the region’s many pick-your-own farms.
For many people, this seasonal chance to go out into the fields to gather their own food is the only time of the year that they truly come in contact with the rhythms of the Earth. It is a time of plenty, when the farmer’s labors yield food that can be taken fresh from the fields to the picker’s table.
