Clearing Snow
in Great Barrington
New England no longer is the snowy landscape of memory, making dreaming of a white Christmas ever more problematic.

The late 19th and early 20th century still dealt up large quantities of snow as is demonstrated by this picture, circa 1920, in Great Barrington, which shows unidentified businessmen, who have cleared the walks in front of their businesses.
A mountain of snow blocked the view of Main Street. In the days before motorized sidewalk plows, walks were cleared through manpower.
