The Southfield Store

The Southfield Store in Southfield Massachusetts is a well hidden gem, but once discovered it is sure to become one of your favorite things too!

Owned by Peter Platt and Meredith Kennard, owners and operators of the fabulous Old Inn on the Green, it is located just a few minutes down the road. The atmosphere of the store is lovely, it has been refreshed inside and out but still holds the historic image of the original 1929 building. The front porch has small tables where one can eat in the warmer months. Through the chartreuse front door the store is warm and bright and has plenty of large wooden farm tables flanked with a mixed match of well warn wooden chairs.

The Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch and a generous Sunday brunch year round. Chef Gustavo Perez offers a traditional Oaxacan menu once a week. This authentic selection is a welcomed and unexpected experience, who would think Mexican cuisine in the Berkshires? The baked goods made on site are divine, the raspberry cheese danish is like heaven in a petit four paper. This buttery pastry is perfectly sweet and the lightness of the cheese lends a savory balance.

Looking for something more healthful? Shirl's Granola, also made on premises, can be enjoyed with yogurt and fruit. For lunch, sandwiches, soups and salads are made with very fresh and creative ingredients. Stick to the menu or design your own and the specials are sure to keep things interesting. Shirl's Gelato is a perfect end to your meal!

The offerings reflects the changing of the seasons, locally grown ingredients are the inspiration for their New American menu. They also have a full bar with a thoughtful selection of wine and bottled beer and creative cocktails, think chilled tequila mixed with hibiscus infusions or grapefruit soda!

In May dinner service returns. We can't wait!

The Southfield Store is truly one of our favorite things. Their passion for what they do is obvious with every bite. Whether you are enjoying a pastry and coffee while you read your morning paper, gathering with friends and family for brunch or out for a culinary adventure of near and far, you are sure to be blown away.
