The Big Chill
At last! A real New England winter. And Hancock Village is inviting everyone to enjoy a weekend of old-fashioned winter fun February 15th and 16th, at the Big Chill, 11-4PM each day.
Big Chill activities include ice-harvesting talks, maple tree tapping demonstrations, blacksmithing, wood carving and woodworking demos, visits with the farm animals in the Round Stone Barn and much more. The Berkshire Museum’s Mobile Museum Unit (MoMU) will be present, featuring its mammals exhibit and several historic buildings will be open. The Discovery Bar snack destination will present live music from local musician Pete Apple.
In honor of President’s Day and to recognize the late president Jimmy Carter, two Shaker boxes handcrafted by Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, will be on display all weekend. These boxes were gifted to Hancock Shaker Village in 2018 from the Office of Jimmy Carter.
The Big Chill is a part of Pittsfield’s 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival, which features dozens of events from February 13th through February 23rd. Go to LovePittsfield.com for more information.
Advance tickets to the Big Chill—$15 for adults, children 12 and younger admitted free—are not required and HSV members are admitted free.
